Year 4 – Owls

Owls Class
Teacher – Mrs Bettridge

Dear Parent/Carer,

Welcome to Owls class, we're sure that they will enjoy their time here.

Lower down the page you will find our topic plans so you can see what activities we hope to cover. Mrs Bettridge teaches every morning and in the afternoons we have our subject specialist teachers and sports coaches.

We are going to be outside as much as we can for PE so your child will need to bring their standard PE kit (white t-shirt and navy shorts) as well as a navy tracksuit and trainers every Monday and Wednesday.

Every week we will be setting homework on a Friday. This will include a piece of literacy and numeracy. To make the homework more engaging, and to help involve you we will try to make it relevant to real life as possible and suggest hands-on activities to help reinforce the activities we have been working on in class.

Each child will read every week in a group as well as individually. Please encourage them to read at home and talk with you about what they have read. They are able to borrow books from the class and main school libraries to take home, as well as bringing in their own books from home to read during quiet reading sessions. Please don't forget to sign their reading record at least 4 times a week.

We hope this provides all information you need at this time but if you have any queries please come and speak with me.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Bettridge

Term 3

A big thanks for all the gifts you gave Mr Selway and I for Christmas. I hope you all had a restful time and are ready for term 3. A few things to mention for the term.  Swimming starts on a Wednesday so please remember costumes.  I have managed to navigate my way around Sumdog and have now set homework. This will be set weekly. Homework has gone out and I will do my best to find a way to reward homework as many pieces were outstanding. Please remember to do the 4/7 reading challenge and keep working on times tables, the children are really starting to use them well in class.

If you have any questions please catch me any morning.

Happy New Year to you all,

Mrs Bettridge
