Teacher – Mr Gaywood and Mr Selway
We would like to welcome you and your child to Owls class and we're sure that they will enjoy their time here. Mr. Selway teaches on Mondays and Tuesdays and Mr. Gaywood teaches the rest of the week.
Lower down the page you will find our topic plans so you can see what activities we hope to cover. We do fieldwork linked to Geography and like to have outdoor learning where possible. We also have regular visitors to class to help support their learning in RE as well as other curriculum areas.
Mr Gaywood is into Forest Schools so is our very own Bear Grylls. He loves Star Wars and would be able to survive with the Ewoks on Endor for many years armed just with a piece of string and a sharpened twig. Mr Selway has a slightly cheeky sense of humour and loves land-sailing and mint chocolate, but not at the same time.
We are going to be outside as much as we can for PE so your child will need to bring their standard PE kit (white t-shirt and navy shorts) as well as a navy tracksuit and trainers.
Every week we will be setting homework on a Friday. This will include a piece of literacy and numeracy. To make the homework more engaging, and to help involve you we will try to make it relevant to real life as possible and suggest hands-on activities to help reinforce the activities we have been working on in class.
Each child will read every week in a group as well as individually. Please encourage them to read at home and talk with you about what they have read. They are able to borrow books from the class and main school libraries to take home, as well as bringing in their own books from home to read during quiet reading sessions. Please don't forget to sign their reading record at least 4 times a week.
We hope this provides all information you need at this time but if you have any queries please come and speak with us.
