Useful Information

Absence – Illness
Please report any non attendance due to illness to the school office by 9.30 a.m. on 0117 9372399.

Absence – Holidays
Requests for holidays should be made in writing or emailed to the Head Teacher a month in advance. No holiday request will be authorised in term time. We strongly recommend that holidays are not taken in term time as it does effect your child's education and the sequence of lessons they receive.
Please refer to the attendance policy for more information.

Bikes and Scooters
Children are encouraged to ride to school as a preferable means of transport to the car. We recommend that children wear a safety helmet although this decision remains the responsibility of parents. Once on school property children must dismount and push the bike or scooter.

Fruit (KS1)
All children in Key Stage 1 (Reception- Year 2) are provided with a piece of fruit free of charge. This is usually at afternoon break.

Jewellery
Jewellery should never be worn as such items may get lost and in some case can be potentially dangerous. Only stud type earrings will be allowed and children will be asked to remove them for swimming and P.E. A watch can be worn by KS2 children.

Lost Property
Lost property is situated in the walk in cupboard in the school hall. At the end of each term all items in lost property are placed out in the playground for collection. Any items left over are donated to charity. Please ensure all clothing, bags, shoes and personal possessions are clearly labelled to avoid ending up in lost property.

Medicines
School policy states that we will administer medicines to children if the appropriate forms are completed. Parents can come to school themselves or make an alternative arrangement should their child require medicine during the school day. Should your child have a long term condition which requires regular medication please discuss this with the Head Teacher.

Milk (under 5s)
At mid-morning break 1/3 pint cartons of milk are provided free for all children under five.

Nuts
We are a nut free school. Please do not send any food containing nuts to school as part of a pack lunch or break time snack.

Parking
Under no circumstances should parents/carers drive in and park/turn in the school driveway. This endangers the lives of our children. There is parking in Brockwell Park but this quickly become busy and access should be left for other park uses to enter and leave the park. Other parking is available at The Church and the Carpenters Arms or in the village. We encourage all our children to walk to school, but appreciate that those children who live outside of the village need to be driven. However, please use the parking facilities mentioned above and walk the last short distance to school.
